Protecting your Affiliate Links

Affiliate Links are the links you get from the affiliate programs you are promoting so that you can credited when people buy through your link.

However, if you do not protect your affiliate links, there are scammers online who can decipher and break into your account if they get to know your affiliate links and they can eventually steal your commissions.

To avoid this, you need to protect your affiliate links by cloaking them. When you do this, the thieves cannot get into account beacause it is hidden.

You can get a free service at www.tinyurl.com where you can get a tiny url that will both cloak your affiliate links and make them shorter.

Advertising your Affiliate Link(s)

There are many ways in which you can advertise your affiliate link(s).

By the way, before we go into that, what is an affiliate link? For the benefit of those who do not know what an affiliate link is, it is a link that connects you to the website you are going to through an identity that is peculiar to a particular individual. No two individuals can have the same affiliate link. It is this link that enables you to get the commission for any sale made through that link. For example, SFI is an affiliate program in which I am an affiliate and one of my link is www.moreinfo247.com/9228047/cb With this link, I will be credited if anyone goes to the site and joins the program.

Now, there are may ways in which you can advertise your affiliate link.

One of the ways is through a blog like this. Just create a blog about affiliate marketing or programs or directories. As you give information about all these, you could include your link(s) and get traffic or you could get the HTML code of the banner of the affiliate program and paste it on your blog.

Another way is through a forum. Advertising is usually not allowed in forums. However, you can include your link in the signature file and whenever you make any post whether in reply to a question, in contribution to a topic or outright post on a particular topic by you, your link will be shown at the bottom of your post. Not every forum allows you to put your affiliate link like this anyway. They will rather you put the affiliate link in your website or blog and put the website or blog url in the signature file.

Yet another way is through online sites that you pay for your adverts to show there. Such sites are www.inetgiant.com www.usfreeads.com and some other ones. You just need to pay for advertising space and your adverts will be placed there.

PPCs is another one. PPCs are Pay Per Click adverts like in www.google.adwords.com you place a bid for your adverts and anyone that clicks on your adverts, go straight to the site through your link(s). You pay as your adverts are clicked. It can be cost effective as you pay for only visitors to the site through your link. However, because of the competition, you will need to either place a high bid or optimise your keywords before you can be placed on the front page of the Search Engine Results.

These are just a few ways you can advertise your affiliate link(s) and get the needed traffic.
